With "Dance in Schools", Tanzlabor_21 seeks to create sustainable structures for the promotion and integration of Dance in Schools in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region. Each project is developed and implemented by its own "Creative Team" made up of an artistic director (choreographer/dance pedagogue), at least one teacher, 1-3 students from the Department for Sports Students (with a focus on dance) and of course the pupils. This creates a dynamic field of communication in which all participants contribute both to the process as well as the results. Tanzlabor_21 has implemented numerous projects with schools in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region since 2007.
Moreover, in September 2010 around 40 teenagers between age 13 and 21 developed a piece in collaboration with choreographer Guido Markowitz and six co-choreographers/professional dancers on the subject of relationships and the complexities that they involve. This was also the first time that the hr-Bigband worked with teenagers in a dance project. They played a jazz-orchestra adaptation of Puccini's "Tosca" and the highly acclaimed Funk-Jazz-Project "Visions of Miles". A more long-term collaboration with the hr-Bigband is now in planning.
From 2011 onwards, Tanzlabor_21 will also cooperate with the Tanzetage in Liederbach. In a children's project under the guidance of a dance pedagogue, the children will be actively and creatively integrated into the working process in order to provide them with profound insight into the development of a dance piece. Performances are planned for May 28./29., 2011 at the Liederbacher Stadthalle. From August 1.-6., 2011, for the first time Liederbach will become a meeting place for dance excited teens and adults enthusiastic about dance. Workshops with international teachers will take place in the Tanzetage and furthers venues in Liederbach.
